NEW TO YOGA?

Are you looking to start practicing yoga, but have no idea where to start? Maybe you’re confused with all the terms and styles, or what to expect from a class – Don’t worry, this section will help guide you through. If there are still questions we haven’t answered, please contact us.

 

 

How do I know which class is for me?

If you have never practiced yoga before, Ideally, we suggest you start with one of our Intro to Yoga courses, which will introduce you to all the different areas of Yoga and will help you decide which class and style is for you. Insert link to Intro to Yoga page

If there are no upcoming intro to Yoga courses scheduled, feel free to book or pop along to one of Calm and Considerate, Revive and Relax or Slow and Steady classes. These are gentler classes and are a great way to ease you into the wonderful world of yoga. Although, feel free to start with Flow and Therapy, Slow flow or Soft, Strong and Balance you’re keen to try a more powerful class. Do I have to be fit to practice Yoga?

Absolutely not. There is a class to suit everyone and every person works to their abilities.

 

Do I need to be flexible?

No. Flexibility is a product of yoga, not a prerequisite

 

What do I need to bring?

Please bring a yoga mat if you have one. You may want to bring along a blanket for relaxation at the end of the class. Please also bring along a bottle of water. Also, in your first class, you will need to fill out a health questionnaire. To save time beforehand why not print out one of our health questionnaires (depending on your class type) and bring it along with you to give to your teacher.

 

What shall I wear?

You do not need to go out and buy all the latest Yoga gear! All you need to wear is loose comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely during the class. You should also take along a warmer layer (socks and a jumper) for relaxation at the end of the class. You do not need any special footwear, as yoga is generally done barefoot.

 

Do I need to know all the Yoga ‘Jargon’?

If you’re new to yoga (or even if you’re not), you may have heard words that you do not recognize. It might sound like a completely different language (In fact it is)! The language of Yoga is Sanskrit, which is the root of many Indian languages and in fact, one of the oldest of all languages. But don’t worry, your instructors will talk you through the Yoga class in plain English. You will soon become familiar with the common yoga terms.

 

How do I book

If you just want to come along to any of our weekly classes, please do so via our booking system.  You can book a ‘single class pass’ to see if you enjoy the class or why not buy one of our 5/10 class passes, which work out cheaper (see pricing page), then you can try all of our different classes before working out which one will be your regular weekly class.

 

Before your first session, you will be required to fill out General Health Questionnaire You can either fill this out before your class and give to your teacher, or if you don’t get time, don’t worry, the teacher will have spares you can fill out on the day.

 

Where are the classes held?

All our classes, courses, Special Events, and Workshops are held at The Forster institute (1a Waterloo Road, Leighton Buzzard LU7 2NR), except for our Wednesday Evening class which is held at Trinity Methodist Church on North Street, Leighton Buzzard and our Pregnancy Drop-in class which is held at The Barn, Heath and Reach. At The Forster Institute, your class will either be in the upstairs or downstairs studio.
